Veterans’ Relief Fund Recipients
I would like to personally take this opportunity to thank The American Legion for your generosity. Your helping hand gave me the support I needed to get back upon my feet.
Thank you and your organization for all the help and assistance you provided to us. I cannot express my appreciation enough for everything you did to help my family in our time of need, again “thank you”.
The American Legion Edgar M Boyd Post 37 Service Officer, Grant Carns, was aware of a veteran that needed help. The veteran & friend, who is a Korean War veteran and, in a wheelchair, had difficulties trying to get in and out of the house because of the steps in front of their house. Mr. Carns was able to reach out to the veteran’s spouse who invited him out to their home to see what work would be needed. Upon leaving, Mr. Carns went to Home Depot, as they have helped in similar cases, was able to donate the wood needed to build the ramp. A group Legionnaires volunteered to help build the ramp for the veteran along with the experts from Home Depot. The couple was very thankful to the American Legion and Home Depot for the help.
When one of my refrigerator went out at my home I was not sure how I was going to be able to replace it being on a fixed income. With the help of the American Legion I was able to get the help I needed to replace it. I commend The American Legion for being a very generous organization and helping out those that need it.
